Since I watched kimono outfits from anime and Japanese drama, I have grown interest in kimono. Not only looking at them, I started to buy and learn to put on kimono by myself. This post contains anime and J-drama featuring kimono, references and my own kimono coordinates. I also share my outfits on my Instagram account. Anime
There are many anime series that have characters wearing kimono or in Meiji era. I list some that I find the kimono are pretty and in most of the scenes.

This is the series that motivates me to order my first kimonos. The kimono coordinates are beautiful wore by the pretty and elegant actress Yu Aoi. The theme is cooking in a traditional restaurant.
The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House
This drama is a live action drama from an anime about 2 teenage girls navigating their paths in the heart of Gion, Kyoto. I like both the drama and the anime versions.
Fukuyadou Honpo: Kyoto Love Story
If you like romance, kimono and sweets, this series is for you. The series tells the story of three sisters running a traditional confectionary shop in Kyoto.
Watashitachi wa Douka Shiteiru
Adapted from a manga, this is a love story with secrets and revenge set in a famous traditional confectionary shop. The actors and kimono are both pretty in this drama.
Kurokawa no Techo: The Black Leather Notebook
If you like exciting drama, you may enjoy this drama of a young okami-san of a hostess club in Ginza, Tokyo. As the okami-san of the club, she wears fancy kimono at work.
My Happy Marriage
This is a movie adapted from a light novel. There is also an anime currently coming season 2 on Netflix. In this fictional movie, characters have unnatural powers set in historical timeline. Everyone wears kimono daily.
Rurouni Kenshin
One of the most famous manga, anime and live action movie sequences, there are 5 movies in total. The storyline is about Meiji swordsman love stories. I recommend to watch the movies if you are not into anime.

Coordinates
These coordinates above are put on by me. When I was in Japan, I had the chance to use kimono rental service. I learn few tips from them to secure my kimono better as I has thin body type. If you have a thin waist, wrapping towels around the waist will obtain the look.
Hair style including hair accessories, bag, zori sandals and umbrella are included in the rental package. Personally, if you like kimono, you should try out the experience. The store usually locates near tourist attractions, easy to find and use.
